This dataset includes monthly information obtain from the Nonmanufacturing Business Outlook Survey (NBOS) published by the Federal Reserve of Atlanta. The survey data is represented as a diffusion index, calculated as the percentage of respondents indicating an increase minus the percentage of respondents indicating a decrease, with the data being seasonally adjusted.

The Federal Reserve System includes 12 independent regional Reserve Banks located across the U.S. and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. The Philadelphia Fed is the home of the Federal Reserve’s Third District, serving Delaware, southern New Jersey, and eastern and central Pennsylvania.

Survey of Professional Forecasters from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.  At each survey date, they record the projections for various horizons in the same row. RGDP1 is the real-time quarterly historical value for the previous quarter—that is, the quarter before the quarter when we conducted the survey. RGDP2 is the forecast (nowcast) for the current quarter—that is, the quarter when we conducted the survey. RGDP3 to RGDP6 are the forecasts for the following four quarters. RGDPA and RGDPB are the annual-average projections for the current year (the year when we conducted the survey) and the following year.
