Dataset Information

Data available from 1991-01-01 to 2021-08-01
This dataset contains core prices indexes for the IPCA index (see the Dataset Prices - Brazil - IBGE - Consumer Prices Index for more information) produced monthly by the Brazilian Central Bank. It contains the following indexes: IPCA - Administred: The administred price index is currently composed of: Water and sewage rate, Bottle gas, Piped gas, Residential electricity, Urban bus, Taxi, Train, Intercity bus, Interstate bus, Subway, Waterway transport, License and license, Fine , Toll, Gasoline, Diesel Oil, Vehicle Gas, Pharmaceutical Products, Health Insurance, Gambling, Mail, Landline and Public Telephone. EX2-Core IPCA: It excludes the following components from each IPCA segment: Administred: all prices Food at home: Cereals, legumes and oilseeds; Flour, starch and pasta; Tubers, roots and vegetables; Sugars and derivatives; Vegetables and vegetables; Fruits; Meat; Fish; Poultry and eggs; Milk and derivatives; Oil and fat; salt and condiments Services: Air ticket; Hotel; Excursion; Labor; Housekeeper; Regular courses; Diverse courses; Cell phone; Internet access; Telephone with internet; Pay TV with internet Industrial goods: Electro-electronic devices; New car; Used car; Ethanol; Smoke. EX3-Core IPCA: It excludes the following components from each IPCA segment: Administred: all prices Food at home: all prices Services: Air ticket; Hotel; Excursion; Labor; Housekeeper; Regular courses; Diverse courses; Cell phone; Internet access; Telephone with internet; Pay TV with internet Industrial goods: Electro-electronic devices; New car; Used car; Ethanol; Smoke. Double Weighted Core IPCA: The double weighted core (DP) adjusts the original weights of each item according to its relative volatility, reducing the importance of more volatile components. The monthly calculation procedure consists of: (i) calculating for each item the standard deviation of the series of differences between its variation and that of the IPCA in the last 48 months sigma(k); (ii) calculate new p(k)* = [p(k)/sigma(k)]/[Sum(i) p(i)/sigma(i)]; (iii) use the p* weights to weight the price variations of the different IPCA items. Smoothed trimmed mean Core IPCA: The trimmed means (MA) core excludes items whose monthly variation is above the 80th percentile or below the 20th percentile in the distribution. The remaining 60% is used to calculate the monthly variation of the core. P55 - Core: The P55 is built using IPCA sub-item variations and opening weights. The core corresponds to the variation of the 55th percentile of the distribution weighted by the weights of the sub-items. The measure resembles the inflation median. EXFE-Core: Excludes the following IPCA components: Food at home: All sub-items, with the exception of Beer, Wine and other alcoholic beverages; Item Fuels and Energy; Subitem Lubricating oil; Item Fuels (vehicles). Such segmentation makes the nucleus in line with the international classification of COICOP.
