This dataset includes yearly information of patents applications, grants and in force published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) A patent is a set of exclusive rights granted by law to applicants for inventions that are new, non-obvious and commercially applicable. It is valid for a limited period of time (generally 20 years), during which patent holders can commercially exploit their inventions on an exclusive basis. In return, applicants are obliged to disclose their inventions to the public in a manner that enables others, skilled in the art, to replicate the invention. The patent system is designed to encourage innovation by providing innovators with time-limited exclusive legal rights, thus enabling innovators to reap the benefits of their innovative activity.

The Social Unrest Index measures the risk of social conflicts in countries and is used to assess the level of vulnerability of a society to instability. It takes into account a range of factors, including economic inequality, poverty, social exclusion, and lack of effective governance. This dataset includes annual information about intentional homicides per 100,000 people disaggregated by sex. Intentional homicides are estimates of unlawful homicides purposely inflicted as a result of domestic disputes, interpersonal violence, violent conflicts over land resources, intergang violence over turf or control, and predatory violence and killing by armed groups. Intentional homicide does not include all intentional killing; the difference is usually in the organization of the killing. Individuals or small groups usually commit homicide, whereas killing in armed conflict is usually committed by fairly cohesive groups of up to several hundred members and is thus usually excluded.

The indicator is segmented into the number of postpaid subscriptions and the count of active prepaid accounts (i.e., those utilized in the last three months). It applies to all mobile cellular subscriptions providing voice communications and excludes subscriptions via data cards or USB modems, subscriptions to public mobile data services, private trunked mobile radio, telepoint, radio paging, and telemetry services. These subscriptions correspond to a public mobile telephone service that provides access to the PSTN using cellular technology.

The Center for Systemic Peace (CSP) was founded in 1997. It is engaged in innovative research on the problem of political violence within the structural context of the dynamic global system, that is, global systems analysis. The Center supports scientific research and quantitative analysis in many issue areas related to the fundamental problems of violence in both human relations and societal-systemic development processes.

This dataset includes yearly information of the economic freedom index published by Fraser Institute, for multiple countries. The index measures the degree towhich the policies and institutions of countries are supportive of economic freedom, in five major areas: [1] Size of Government; [2] Legal System and Security of Property Rights; [3] Sound Money; [4] Freedom to Trade Internationally; [5] Regulation. Comprehensive data are available only with a two-year lag, so the index itself has a two-year lag. Within the five major areas, there are 26 components in the index. Many of those components are themselves made up of several sub-components. In total, the index comprises 44 distinct variables.

This dataset includes yearly information of the Freedom Index for multiple countries, published by Cato Institute. The Freedom Index measures Economic Freedom, Political Freedom, and Legal Freedom. Scores range between 0 and 100 with higher values indicating more freedom. Countries on the Freedom Index are divided into four categories based on their overall score: those above a seventy-five-point score (Free), those with a score between fifty and 74.9 (Mostly Free), those with a score between twenty-five and 49.9 (Mostly Unfree), and those with score from zero to 24.9 (Unfree).

A country/territory’s score indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0-100, where 0 means that a country is perceived as highly corrupt and a 100 means that a country is perceived as very clean.
